Checklist for your embarkation

How we hire

Our hiring process is thorough, to ensure we make the right decision and to help you to decide if we're the right fit for you.

Passport

Please scan it and send it to us in advance. Attention, your passport must still have minimum 12 months validity!

Seamens Book: as a Seafarer, you need a Seamens Book. We will request it for you. It will then be sent to you per post, or direclty handed on board. We need a current Passphoto of you. The cost of the seaman's book will be deducted from your fee.

In case you already have it, please let us have a scanned copy to verify it.

Medical Certificate of the Seafarer

Every Crew Memebr must have the so called Medical Certificate of the Seafarer.

You should book an appointment with a registered Doctor allowed to issue said document.

Please check the lists of registered Doctors in your Country.

How we hire

Vaccinations

Yellow Fever: The Yellow Fever vaccination is necessary. Sometimes ships travel in areas with a comparatively high risk of transmission of this disease. Only selected doctors are allowed to carry out these. It's best to simply search online for a doctor near you.

MMR (V) vaccination (measles-mumps-rubella-chickenpox):

There is the triple vaccination against Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR vaccination), or the quadruple vaccination, which also protects against Chickenpox (MMRV). For example, two vaccinations with an MMR vaccine protect against three diseases (Mumps, Measles, Rubella) at the same time. This would otherwise require six vaccinations.

Health Insurance

Our health insurance will cover you during your time on board. For this period, you can pause your own insurance.

Basic Safety Training & Crowd Management

Safety first – every crew member on board must be familiar with the safety regulations. Safety training must therefore be completed on board or on land (depending on the shipping company). Training and safety drills are continually carried out to maintain safety. The STCW training courses (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) are international standards for seafarers.

C1/D Visa

For contracts in the USA and for the the Hapag Lloyd fleet, a C1/D Visa is required.

Please gather the needed info according to your Country of origin.

Uniform sheet

While on duty, you are required to have a uniform, this will be provided to you on board, or it will be sent to you at home by Cruise Vision. The uniform is free of charge.

You need to bring your own black shoes.
